Care for that engine!!!

If your like me and put hard towing or heavy mileage on your tow vehicle, then you are going to want to protect that engine.  I use and recommend in all diesel and gasoline engines the Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer.

All you do is add one of these to your next oil change by replacing one quart with this oil additive.  This will keep everything nice and slick and will help prevent spinning a bearing, throwing a ring, or even just running a quart low on oil.  This product is pure petroleum based that equals, won't burn off.

Check it out with your next oil change!

Shine some light on the subject....

If your like me, hitching up in the dark is quite a task.  Why not shine some light on the subject with a 12 volt utility light?!  I have installed two of these lights in the bed of my truck using my in-bed toolbox as a mounting point.  I ran a wire to the cab of the truck where I can turn these lights off and on at will.  They are great for backing up, hitching up, and warning off those tailgater's when they get too close for comfort.

Happy camping and see you down the road.

Lighten The Load with ebooks

With the holidays rolling in fast and steady, I thought I would touch on a great gift idea.  Fulltime RV'ers don't have the largest amounts of storage and this can make carrying heavy bulk books a drag.  With the Kindle, all your books are electronic and ready at the touch of your finger.  Why not invest in one of these for the reader in your life.  You will not only be getting them the latest and greatest technology, but you will also be lightening your load and claiming your storage back!!!

The best part of the deal is you can download and read all of your camping magazine issues from http://www.fulltimefamilies.com as the issues are all ready ebook friendly!

Happy holidays from Camping America!!!

Keeping Warm In The Winter Efficiently

Right now we are camping in the warmest place in the country, and still the nights are in the 30's.  South Florida is supposed to be in the 60's - 70's this time of year, so I can't even imagine how cold the rest of the country must be.

Keeping warm in a camper can be very expensive if using the propane furnace.  That furnace will eat through a bottle or two of propane in no time flat.  I have found that compensating with a ceramic space heater can help save your fuel for when you really need it.

I bought 2 of these space heaters to assist in heating my 35' 5th wheel.  This space heater has a self adjusting thermostat causing the unit to only kick on when more heat is needed.  If you set your propane furnace for 65 degrees and then set these up on the higher side, this will cause the furnace to only kick on if the temp drops below 65 in your camper.  This probably will not happen due to the ceramic heaters get hotter than they look for the size.

Keep warm and see you down the road.

Need more counter space???

If your like me, an RV kitchen can be really small when wanting to prep or cook a meal for the family.  I have found the Camco Counter Top extension to be the solution to the problem.  I have included the Product Features but what I can't get over is that it adds an extra foot of space.  This can also double as a holding station and is permanently attached to the RV so there is nothing to store or put away.

Product Features

  • Adds an extra 12 inch to the counter top
  • Pulls up easily and is secured by a metal drop-leaf table brace
  • Folds down when not in use
  • 12 inch X 13 .5 inch X 0.75 inch

Keep those hands toasty warm

Now that winter is upon us, we need to start thinking about keeping warm.  One good way to do this is with a Zippo Handy Warmer.  This will warm up your hands when working outside setting up or taring down the rig.  Put your hands on this device and your hands will be toasty warm and ready to keep working.

Cooking With Gas

Most of us enjoy the BBQ when camping as our primary source of cooking while enjoying nature.  I have tried many of grills and found that my Weber Q 5662 Gas Grill is the best that I have cooked on.  The light weight easy to store grill uses a portable propane tank or can be used with a hose adapter to use a standard 20 lbs propane tank. I have used both style tanks and so far, the 20 lbs tank has lasted me 3 months, and still cooking.

If you don't bring your own portable table with you when camping or need a place to put the grill for cooking, I would recommend picking up one of Weber's rolling carts to go with this great grill!

Where Oh Where is that Satellite??!!

If your like me and have trouble finding the satellite in space, then you need one of these Winegard Digital Satellite Finder Compass's.  These compass's are very easy to use and extremely accurate.  These work for finding Satellite TV and Internet for all carriers.

The problem I was having, like most people was pointing the dish once I had the satellite location.  I would know what general direction to point, but would have problems getting dead center.  I would take me lots of time to find the exact position to get the best signal.  With the Winegard SC-8000, I can get the dish up and running in no time flat!

This is a must for anyone who wishes to point a satellite dish!

"The Winegard SC-8000 digital compass is the pro's choice for the most accurate checks when aligning a satellite dish! It's the smallest and lightest compass available. Accurate, easy to operate, water resistant with a backlighted display. Handy belt clip and neck strap included."
